This rescue photo is of the first save of the Operation Desert Storm war. An MH-53J from the 20th SOS, piloted by Capt Thomas J. Trask, rescued a downed USN F-14 pilot, Lt Devon Jones, 130 miles into Iraq. This was the first combat rescue behind enemy lines since Vietnam. The crew received the Mackay Trophy for their actions. Capt. Trask is now Major General Trask assigned to USSOCOM.
