An F4U Corsair of Fighting Squadron (VF) 17 pictured during flight operations on board the carrier Bunker Hill (CV 17) on September 14, 1943. The "Jolly Rogers" would achieve combat fame flying their Corsairs not from a flight deck, but from airfields in the Solomon Islands during 1943 and 1944.
