During his fourth X-15 flight, the third in the Number Two ship, North American Aviation chief test pilot Albert Scott Crossfield made an emergency landing at Rosamond Dry Lake after one of the four chambers in one the two Reaction Motors XLR11-RM-13 rocket engines exploded, causing an engine compartment fire. November 5, 1954.
Si no recuerdo mal este accidente fue consecuencia de una toma muy dura y al avión se le rompió el espinazo. ..
ResponderEliminarEl "peo" de los cohetes del X-15 de Crossfield fue en pruebas estáticas de motor, se congeló una válvula del sistrma de alimentación y la proa salió a volar sola (videos e historia en la red).
