¿Pequeño y limitado, o flexible, fiable y asequible?

EMBRAER performed the maiden flight on December 6 from its facility at São José dos Campos of the first of three EMB-145 Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) aircraft platforms ordered by the Indian government. Based on the proven Embraer ERJ-145 regional jet, the aircraft features an in-flight refueling system, SATCOM capability, a significant increase in electrical and cooling capacities, and a comprehensive set of aerodynamic and structural changes. These improvements will allow the installation of the advanced electronic systems currently being developed by India’s Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) co-ordinated by the Centre for Airborne Systems (CABS).

The EMB 145 AEW&C (Airborne Early Warning & Control) aircraft is a member of Embraer’s Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) family of aircraft and systems. It is based on the ERJ 145, one of the most successful regional jet platforms in the world, with more than 1,100 units delivered and 1918 million hours flown. Currently, four Embraer Legacy 600 jets are operated by the Indian Air Force (IAF) for the transportation of Indian VIPs and foreign dignitaries and a fifth Embraer Legacy 600 is in service with the Border Security Force (BSF), under India’s Home Ministry of Home Affairs.

Embraer provides a flexible, reliable and affordable aircraft for ISR missions, with a perfect blend of effectiveness and economics. Its primary mission is to detect, track and identify targets in its patrol area and transmit this information to friendly forces, in order to provide them with an accurate and comprehensive operational picture. Therefore, the EMB 145 AEW&C can perform airspace management, fighter positioning and intercept control, signals intelligence, and surveillance of seas, borders, and Exclusive Economic Zones.
