Lieutenant Richard F. Gordon, Jr., and his radar intercept officer. Lieutenant (junior grade) Bobbie R. Young pictured with the Bendix Trophy they captured for flying their F4H Phantom II from Los Angeles to New York on May 24, 1961. They covered the distance of 2421.4 miles in a record time of 2 hours, 47 minutes at an average speed of 870 miles per hour.
